A Perfect Getaway To The North Fork

The Harvest Inn

Home Away from Home in Wine Country

A few days away can really fill your cup—literally and figuratively. We spent a few days on the North Fork of Long Island, one of our favorite escapes, and stayed at the most wonderful bed and breakfast, The Harvest Inn owned by our dear friends Steve and Stacey Isaacs. Their inn isn’t just a place to sleep—it's a home away from home, filled with warmth, thoughtful details, and the kind of hospitality that makes you never want to leave.

Main Road Biscuit Company

We kicked off our weekend with a ferry ride from Bridgeport, CT, which always adds a fun, vacation-like feel to the trip. Once we docked, we drove straight to Main Road Biscuit Company for lunch. This little spot never disappoints—fresh salads, great coffee, and, of course, their namesake biscuits that are downright addictive.

Croteaux Vineyards

The North Fork is known for its relaxed charm, fresh air, and—let’s be honest—it’s great vineyards. Stacey and Steve always have the best recommendations, tailored perfectly to your taste. Our favorite is Croteaux Vineyards in Southold, a dreamy spot known for its rosé and serene setting.

Main & Mill Jamesport, NY

This year, Steve suggested we check out their sister property, Main & Mill, and it was a hit. With a chic bar, a beautiful outdoor space, and a slightly more modern vibe, it was the perfect place to spend the afternoon sipping and savoring.

William Ris Gallery

Right next to Main & Mill is the William Ris Gallery, a fine art gallery featuring beautiful, curated works that are always worth browsing—another lovely touch that adds to the charm of the stay.

Southhold Social

After a full afternoon of wine tasting and art admiring, we returned to The Harvest Inn to relax and recharge before heading out to dinner. One of the best things about this area is the sheer number of great restaurants. This time, we tried Southold Social, and the food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.

The Weathered Barn

The next day, we took a short 7-minute drive into Greenport, a quaint harbor town full of great shops and charm. We stopped at my favorite store, The Weathered Barn, to restock on my go-to facial serum and body oil in their signature scent.

1942 Pizza Bar

We also popped into the American Beech Hotel gift shop, and then enjoyed lunch at 1943 Pizza Bar—always a good choice.

Southold Fish Market

On the way home, we made two final stops: one at Southold Fish Market to grab their famous seafood stuffies and another at Briermere Farms for fresh fruits, veggies, their incredible pies, and a few jars of homemade jam.

Briermere Farms

We always love this trip to the North Fork. It’s become a tradition that brings us joy year after year. Great friends, beautiful scenery, delicious food and wine—it really doesn’t get better. We’re already counting down the days until next year.
